The return to Milliways

chameno_koritsiIt had been a month since the oath when Thalia came across the white stag. The beast was magnificent and raised his head in challenge before running off. Artemis was away in Olympus, but the Hunters rallied to Thalia's call and they gave chase. They spread out in the classic crescent and, all too soon, Thalia outpaced her sisters. Lost in the hunt, she didn't notice when the trees changed from those native to the Appalachians to those native to Scotland. Running hard, she also didn't notice the temperature change as she was already hot. Then she broke free of the tree to see...a Tudor style tavern?
She stopped at the tree line to survey her surrounds, the stag forgotten. The tavern felt familiar, though she couldn't imagine why, and the land felt wrong. Somehow she was not in Virginia anymore. A scowl blossomed and she wondered, was this Cronus returned somehow? Off to the left she spotted a warrior's trailing ground and a stab of memory hit her; she helped build that! But that's impossible, she'd never been here before.

She's running now for the stables and her past.

Her quiver is still on her back and her ever present bracelet now has a companion in the form of a silver coronet. She also has a certain timelessness about her.

There was this creature, the Ophiotaurus, that the titans wanted to kill as it would give whoever killed it more power than Zeus and...they wanted me to do it, to join them. I wanted that power so bad, but I was stopped from doing it."
"Anyway, we won and saved Annabeth. "
There's also this prophecy, that could have been about me, but I didn't want it. So when Artemis asked me to lead her Hunters, I agreed. So that I would never be tempted by that power again and so I could be free. But I had no memory of us or this place. I didn't know."

He's read about Artemis, but doesn't know what she's like in Thalia's world or what being Hunter really means.

Date: 2012-12-02 08:41 pm (UTC)It just means that what they've had is all they will have, "You had to do what was right for you. I mean hard to know what the future is goin' to bring and I wouldn't want to be somethin' to make you not be you."
It hurts, but that's how it goes. Who they are outside their doors matters more than what's here and has to come first. Milliways is a place to rest, but not a place for forever.
